Did you know that the Joplin Airport was originally comprised of two diagonal 1/2 mile runways. It was located south of the West Seventh Street electric substation. That was so the golf course could be used as a backup landing field. It wasn't until 1932 that the Joplin Airport was constructed where it is today.
